Homestudy Done!

Well, the social worker (Lisa) just left. We were approved. Everything went great!!! The dossier will be summited Monday. INS has been summited, but we haven't received our fingerprint appointment yet. Lisa thinks we will probably have Zechariah home by December, in time for Christmas!! So elated, can't find the words to describe. Thanks for all your prayers, and please continue, Hong Kong still has to approve us. Also, I hope to have more pics published this weekend sometime.

Latest

Well, Tom couldn't get home for Monday's home study, so that is rescheduled for Friday. Still don't have our fingerprint appointment. Hopefully we'll get that this week. We took pictures of the family today. We'll make the video this week when Tom gets home. Hopefully we'll have Zechariah's package ready to send to him Friday so they can start introducing him to us. We are still hopeful to have Zech by Christmas....who knows though. Right now, he should be at school (it's about 10am there right now). Will keep posting as soon as I here anything! Keep us in your prayers!

Home Study Meeting

We met with our social worker today. She was great! The process has been going so quickly and smoothly, I really expected it to be pure horror based on everything I've heard, but that is not the case so far. She comes to our house Monday. So, the home study and dossier should be complete next week. We are waiting for fingerprint appointment, hopefully that will come quickly. Zechariah will be home soon!! Thanks for all the prayers!! Please continue.

Why down syndrome?

I have had a lot of people asking why at my age(just 42...think thats the new 32!!) and why down syndrome. I think the best way to explain it is...Why Not?! Just like with a pregnancy, you do not know the health of your child until it is born. You would love that child no matter what! We first started looking at adoption when we had seen a documentary on Romanian orphanages. We started looking, and kept seeing Zechariah. We immediately felt a connection with him! I have never met Zechariah, but love him as much as I do any of my kids!
"Rhonda", you're saying, "you can't save the world". Well, no, but we can start with one. If someone from every family in the world helped one child, there would be no orphanages! For whatever reason, the Lord has kept putting people with special needs around us over the last few years. Now, he is allowing one to be part of our family!! How exciting, and how could we not be obedient? Do I think we are a blessing to Zechariah, yes; however, I feel he will be much more of a blessing to us and anyone who spends time with him!!

The Story of Zechariah

Zechariah...What a beautiful child! We first seen him in April on a website and fell in love with him immediately! Adoption was too expensive and the process too long at the time. We felt Zechariah would surely be adopted before we could complete the process. Little did we know God had a different plan. On August 17th we received an e-mail that Zechariah was still available and a christian family had donated money for his adoption....What a gift!!!! Now, September 14th, our papers are filed and Zechariah is "on hold" for us!! We are so excited! The process has still been expensive....physicals, I-600, and application fee, but worth every penny!!!The anticipation to hold Zechariah is unbelievable!!! We are hoping he feels the same. We are expecting Zechariah to arrive no later than January, but we are praying for sooner.
