Vanderbilt

Well, Tom and I adventured to Vanderbilt with Zechariah for some more tests concerning his intestines. Everything is structuraly okay; however, he is totally filled, top to bottom, with...well...stuff. We are on another clean-out program (totally not fun!), but hopefully this will do the trick. Once again, he was the hit of the hospital, he just brightens every room he enters! We went to dinner tonight with some friends, and they said exactly what I was thinking, he brightens a room, and more importantly, my life!!!

Still trying to get things settled with insurance. Everyone keeps pushing the disability card...meaning I have to apply for all these things just to get a good insurance that I want to pay for! Now, even though the adoption is final, I have to prove he is a US citizen. For $500 that won't be a problem, it may take 3 months, but I can do it....crazy?! I was told I can get a passport and that should work, so Monday, we will be getting Zechariah a passport.

Macey is back in school and still working. Doing well I might add.

Megan is working hard at the Coffee Shop. Things have been extremely slow....I guess the economy is starting to hit us. On our 2nd floor, we've opened the "2nd Story Bookstore" (a used book store)...my very creative Aunt Gina thought of the name...love the pun!!!

Tom, well he (and Zech) have been working wood. Trying to get enough for our furnace to get us through the winter. I'll tell you one thing, trying to live as an agrarian is pretty tough(please note no political opinion is to be tied to that lifestyle, just trying to save money and be healthier!)

Well, that's it in a nutshell (pretty big nut).....

Until next time!!

ABR Results

Well, when I first got the results to the ABR test, I was needless to say, disappointed. But after thinking about it, it really wasn't anything I didn't already know...I guess I was just hoping for better. Zech has no hearing in his right ear, but hears in the normal range in his left ear (which is better since the tubes have been put in). He does have an issue with low tones, but nothing that hinder his speech and learning. He has actually been talking quite a bit lately. He isn't speaking very clear, but we are starting to understand quite a bit. He knows his colors now, and has been calling everyone by their name. It's really quite adorable! It's good to be back home. I have been trying to clean the house (nothing unusual), but adding a little feng shui as I go. If nothing else, it's practical. I was definitely not gifted with organization skills. Don't get me wrong, I totally know how, it just doesn't pan out well. I make great progress, but somehow it just doesn't last. Oh well, it everything was perfect, what would we do?! Until next time.....

We've been away!

Sorry it's been so long since I last blogged, but I have been out of town (still am). This is the first chance I have had internet. Everything is going great! Zech is doing wonderful! He is actually talking a lot more, and his face is cleared up. I take him Friday for the ABR test. We'll know then about hearing aides. He is such a blessing (I know I say that all the time). I know this isn't much, but I don't have much time. I'll catch up this weekend.

Update on Blood

Blood work came back good!!! Zech was looking better, but now he has started turning real red again. He's on antibiotic, so hopefully by morning he'll be good. I almost forgot to tell every that Saturday night we went to some new friends house. The wife is from China and made homemade Sushi and fried rice. OMG, it was so good! Zech really bonded to her, it was neat to see he still recognizes his language. I learned a couple sayings. Jenny (the wife) is suppose to help me to learn to cook some chinese and speak a little. I actually believe it was Cantonese that I learned, I'll have to ask, but anyways it was really nice. The first thing she said to Zech, he leaned up and kissed her cheek. It was so sweet!!!I also found a picture of all of us in Hong Kong in front of Zech's school (posted above). Mrs. Lau, Zech's foster mother, is on the left. When he seen the picture, he got a big smile on his face and pointed at Mrs. Lau. I'm sure he still misses her greatly. I'm glad I have a picture of all of us with her in it. We are getting it printed and going to have it setting out so Zech can see it on a regular basis. Thanks again Mrs. Lau for all you've done!!!

Update on our family

I've got pictures to post later. Right now I am waiting for a call from the doctor's office about some blood work on Zech. Right now he has a staph infection on his face. He looks horrible, but is acting fine. It's all over the left side of his face and goes behind the ear and up in his hairline. We got our final adoption papers in the mail today, so I need to go change his social security number(it is currently under his biological mother's name. He started school this week (won't be going today or tomorrow). He wasn't too happy about that. He loves being home. This past Saturday, we took him to my nephew's birthday party at Bounce Zone(has a bunch of bounce houses). He's been before, but this time he could actually do a lot by himself. He was climbing and sliding, having a ball!! Logging is still going on here, when it's not raining, we are finally able to start paying some bills off(praise the Lord!!)
This weekend I want to get some ground ready for a garden....I know, like I need more on my plate(no pun intended). We are really trying to be more self reliant(the start was with our new wood furnace). We also want to be healthier...thus it will be an organic garden. I got a heavy duty nut cracker yesterday. I've been cracking some pecans a friend picked up from his yard. I had just found out that you can actually can nuts. We use so many in baking, I thought this would help save some money.
Well, I will keep you posted on Zech's blood work.....please keep him in your prayers!

Happy New Year!

Hope everyone has a very blessed 2009! We had a nice time at home tonight, playing games and laughing! Just a note on Zechariah's visit to the doctor Monday afternoon, it wasn't great news. The tubes seem to be doing what they are suppose to, however, he still isn't hearing. We are taking him Jan.23 for a sedated ABR test. At which point, he will be evaluated for hearing aids or some kind of implant. Please keep him in your prayers.
Thanks!!!
