What now?!

Just received a letter from USCIS requesting an addendum to our home study. Apparently it recommends us for approval, but should state we are approved by our home study preparer. I have contacted our SW and am waiting a return call from her. I was SOooooo excited when I seen the letter, thinking it was our 171 form, but it's not. Hopefully all will happen soon. It's getting more and more frustrating, but I need to keep it in proper perspection, it has only been 4 months. It seems longer to us because we first seen Zech in April. Nothing more from HK yet, so still waiting there too. Merry Christmas!

New DVD

Well, we received a new dvd of Zechariah!! He has grown so much since the last one, and he is cuter than ever!! We will not be getting him before Christmas, our hopes now are by his 4th birthday(Feb. 25). We are still waiting for the official match from HK, then we will have to wait for high court order. The adoption process has went really well, it is the wait that is driving us all crazy! I am still getting his room ready. We have presents for him, clothes (though he will need a lot more!) and misc. stuff. At the end of Oct., Zechariah was 35 inches tall and weighed 25lbs. He is a tiny little boy!! Each day we anxiously wait for the mail to run, hoping we will have news about him, usually there is nothing, so the day we received the new dvd was very exciting. Its about 35 minutes long and I have watched it over and over, always noticing something new each time. Can't wait to hold our son!!!

It's Been awhile

Well, haven't heard anthing in awhile. All our training is completed, we are just waiting to hear something from USCIS and HK. Not patient, but waiting. Haven't heard how Zechariah is since he got out of the hospital, but I know God is taking care of him!! I will post as soon as I hear something. Also, check out the Christmas angels on www.reecesrainbow.com.

Better news!

Zechariah is out of ICU. They put him in an isolated area in general ward. He is still having breathing problems, so continue to pray!!! Now, on the downside, we thought we would have him by Christmas (and with God anything is possible!!), but this will probably slow things down a few weeks. Looking at different people's progress with adoption in HK, once HK received their paperwork, it took about 5-6 months. So, maybe our social worker was wrong, or maybe things are faster now, who knows. I do know Zechariah is our son and God will bring him home when the time is right. Thanks again for all you prayers!!

Some not so good news......

I was just informed that Zechariah is in the hospital and has been for about one week. He has pneumonia and due to previous heart surgery, he is in ICU. He s/b fine, his appetite is coming back now. Please say extra prayers for him! I know he will be fine, he's in God's hands!
Will keep you posted as soon as I know anything.

It's been a while......

Well, I know I haven't written anything lately, but not a lot has went on. I went to Colorado for a week for training on my EPFX device(quantum biofeedback). That went great! I learned so much. Today we got our fingerprint appointment for October 30th. Hopefully that will go quickly and we'll have Zech home by Christmas! I will try to post more often.

It is on it's way!!!!

Well, Grand Rapids has sent our dossier off to Hong Kong!! Shouldn't be long now! Can't wait for an updated video and to find out Zech's sizes and what he likes. If anyone is considering international adoption, I highly recommend Bethany Christian Services! They have been great!

Homestudy Done!

Well, the social worker (Lisa) just left. We were approved. Everything went great!!! The dossier will be summited Monday. INS has been summited, but we haven't received our fingerprint appointment yet. Lisa thinks we will probably have Zechariah home by December, in time for Christmas!! So elated, can't find the words to describe. Thanks for all your prayers, and please continue, Hong Kong still has to approve us. Also, I hope to have more pics published this weekend sometime.

Latest

Well, Tom couldn't get home for Monday's home study, so that is rescheduled for Friday. Still don't have our fingerprint appointment. Hopefully we'll get that this week. We took pictures of the family today. We'll make the video this week when Tom gets home. Hopefully we'll have Zechariah's package ready to send to him Friday so they can start introducing him to us. We are still hopeful to have Zech by Christmas....who knows though. Right now, he should be at school (it's about 10am there right now). Will keep posting as soon as I here anything! Keep us in your prayers!

Home Study Meeting

We met with our social worker today. She was great! The process has been going so quickly and smoothly, I really expected it to be pure horror based on everything I've heard, but that is not the case so far. She comes to our house Monday. So, the home study and dossier should be complete next week. We are waiting for fingerprint appointment, hopefully that will come quickly. Zechariah will be home soon!! Thanks for all the prayers!! Please continue.

Why down syndrome?

I have had a lot of people asking why at my age(just 42...think thats the new 32!!) and why down syndrome. I think the best way to explain it is...Why Not?! Just like with a pregnancy, you do not know the health of your child until it is born. You would love that child no matter what! We first started looking at adoption when we had seen a documentary on Romanian orphanages. We started looking, and kept seeing Zechariah. We immediately felt a connection with him! I have never met Zechariah, but love him as much as I do any of my kids!
"Rhonda", you're saying, "you can't save the world". Well, no, but we can start with one. If someone from every family in the world helped one child, there would be no orphanages! For whatever reason, the Lord has kept putting people with special needs around us over the last few years. Now, he is allowing one to be part of our family!! How exciting, and how could we not be obedient? Do I think we are a blessing to Zechariah, yes; however, I feel he will be much more of a blessing to us and anyone who spends time with him!!

The Story of Zechariah

Zechariah...What a beautiful child! We first seen him in April on a website and fell in love with him immediately! Adoption was too expensive and the process too long at the time. We felt Zechariah would surely be adopted before we could complete the process. Little did we know God had a different plan. On August 17th we received an e-mail that Zechariah was still available and a christian family had donated money for his adoption....What a gift!!!! Now, September 14th, our papers are filed and Zechariah is "on hold" for us!! We are so excited! The process has still been expensive....physicals, I-600, and application fee, but worth every penny!!!The anticipation to hold Zechariah is unbelievable!!! We are hoping he feels the same. We are expecting Zechariah to arrive no later than January, but we are praying for sooner.
